Company History

May 1997: Founding of the "IDEA Lab", the first laboratory dedicated to the evaluation of e-learning. Soon employs 18 graduate students at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to assist the many learning organizations exploring web-based training and learning.

April 1998: Dr. Champagne authors "Dynamic evaluation of distance education courses", a description of "Embedded Assessment" that forms the MyClassEvaluation system. It is cited by the founders of four web-survey companies as the influence for their product creation.

July 1998: The earliest version of MyClassEvaluation successfully evaluates satellite and web-based corporate training simultaneously delivered to 13 countries.

October 1998: IDEA Lab creates the primary internet-based assessment instrument used by the U. S. Army Research Institute.

March 1999: IOTA Solutions is founded.

October 1999: IOTA Solutions opens first office (Troy, NY). Keith Hmieleski, Scott Jablonski, Stephen Konya, and Matt Champagne are co-founders.

November 1999: Pace University signs as first IOTA client. University of Detroit Mercy, Oakland University, Wayne State University, and University of Michigan sign soon after.

June 2000: Rochester Institute of Technology becomes first university to purchase the newly-automated MyClassEvaluation.

June 2000: Dr. Susan Carswell, University of Pennsylvania, is first instructor to use “MyClassEvaluation Professional”, the create-your-own evaluation tool.

May 2001: IOTA opens headquarters in Atlanta, GA.

September 2002: IOTA awarded one of only 7 SBIR grants for its innovations in educational evaluation.

December 2006: The 1,000,000th student submits a response to MyClassEvaluation.

May 2009: The 2,000,000th student submits a response to MyClassEvaluation.

April 2010: IOTA Solutions opens headquarters in Richmond, VA

October 2011: The 3,000,000th student submits a response to MyClassEvaluation.
